The square between the Düsseldorf Schauspielhaus (theatre) and Schadowstrasse was redesigned by the renowned Düsseldorf architectural firm Ingenhoven, known for its sustainable and close to nature projects. A market hall with a transitable, green roof, modelled after the New York Lincoln Centre, faces a block of buildings with a stepped wall, planted with eight kilometres of beech hedges. The unobstructed view of the Düsseldorf Schauspielhaus (theatre) should be largely preserved.
