The former parliament building on Kaiserteich, which was the seat of the State parliament until the late 1980s, today houses the department of contemporary art. A renovation completed in 2001 gave the building a glass and steel dome. In doing so, a new attic and a spacious exhibition area with natural light were created. Large-format sculptures are best displayed here. The panoramic view over Düsseldorf is also spectacular. In the meantime, those who suffer from vertigo and connoisseurs meet in Pardo’s restaurant on the ground floor, which also leaves a lasting impression thanks to the artist Jorge Pardo’s psychedelic wall design.
