Media art is an art form that is coming more and more into the limelight. And in Düsseldorf, two institutions are taking account of the growing importance of this young genre.
the Julia Stoschek Collection and the imai Institute, founded in 2006, which has set itself the task of distributing, preserving and communicating audiovisual art, and it is the only institution of its kind in Germany. The central location of the imai is the NRW-Forum, The collection of around 3000 artistic and documentary valuable works are located there. They are shown in regular exhibitions, but on request, the imai also opens its archives. Whoever wants to rummage around: More than 1,300 works can be reproduced on the internet for free and in full length via the imai online catalogue.
