Brewery "zum Schiffchen"

Hafenstraße 5, 40213 Düsseldorf

The bar tradition is inextricably linked to the city's history, which is evident in all corners of Düsseldorf. The Brauerei zum Schiffchen in the heart of the Altstadt (Old town) is a very special testimony to this: It is considered the oldest dining location of the city.

Soon, beer will have been tapped here for 400 years, the first mention of the place was already back in 1628. Napoleon had been here, but also the Japanese princess Hisako of Takamado, Queen Silvia of Sweden, Heinrich Heine, Emperor Jan Wellem, Paul Bocuse, Franz Beckenbauer, Alice Schwarzer, Jürgen Rüttgers and Atze Schröder. The list could be continued, but proves that: Fear of contact, has never been known at the Schiffchen.
