Alberto Burri: The Trauma of Painting 05.03–03.07.2016 Kunstsammlung Nordrhein-Westfalen K21 Ständehaus www.kunstsammlung.de This retrospective honours Alberto Burri (1915–1995) as one of the most in- fluential Italian artists of the post-war period. In his works made of tar, iron or plastic, Burri defaces the surface of the picture, thus departing from the two-dimensionality of painting. Organised by the Solomon R. Henkel – The Art Collection 09.04–14.08.2016 Kunstsammlung Nordrhein-Westfalen K20 Grabbeplatz www.kunstsammlung.de Düsseldorf is home to the Henkel company head office, as well as to the art collection built up over many years by Gabriele Henkel, which contains works from various cultural circles and genres. It ranges from Classical Modern through 20th century abstract art, to the art of foreign continents. A representa- tive selection of the works is being shown to the public for the first time.
