Six streets worth seeing that you should definitely take a stroll along

We show you a few addresses that you should check out

Maybe it's your "own" street right outside your front door. Or one in the city's favorite neighborhood. Düsseldorf has no shortage of beautiful and unusual streets, especially since they - bonus! - they are not infrequently captivating because of very different features. We have selected six streets in five different parts of the city that are always worth a visit.

Brunnenstraße, Bilk

Located in Friedrichstadt, just a few minutes away from Königsallee, you'll find Brunnenstraße. Always busy, always bustling, you'll discover a variety of stores here: right by the Düssel, you'll put together your own bouquet of flowers, then head next door to the Layali restaurant to sample Arabic specialties like Franjieh, a beef ragout, lamb medallions and mousakáa. At "Kavala" a few houses away, again a menu full of Greek delicacies awaits. If you're looking for sustainable yet chic fashion, stop by the "Yavana Green Store." Owner Margarete Wiemer always offers friendly advice without any hurry. The unpackaged store "Pure Note" with its snacks and cakes in the backyard continues the sustainable and delicious way. In the small but fine café "Süße Erinnerung" you can collect just that - unless you are planning a vacation anyway. In that case, you'll find the right equipment at "Sack und Pack.

Zietenstraße, Golzheim

One of the most visited streets in spring: Zietenstraße in Golzheim! Here, one magnificently blossoming cherry tree follows the next, which is why the corner becomes one of the most sought-after photo backdrops in the city in March and April. But the street, which is only a ten-minute walk from the Rhine, also invites you to take a stroll in summer, fall and winter. During a tour, you will discover banana trees and grasses that have grown unusually large for a city in Central Europe, as well as sailboat models behind the window panes of buildings from the imperial and interwar periods and, of course, the New Synagogue on Paul-Spiegel-Platz. Be sure to book a guided tour in the latter to get a glimpse of Düsseldorf's Jewish life. Also not far away: the Robert-Schumann-Hochschule, whose students give concerts again and again. Who knows what Mozartian sound can be heard as far as Zietenstraße....

Lorettostraße, Unterbilk

All roads lead to Rome - and certainly to Lorettostraße. Whether you're coming to Unterbilk for the first time or for what feels like the 1001st time, a day there is always an event. While many cities lack owner-operated stores, here you will find one shopping highlight after the next. Be it delicious food at "Fromagerie Armel Laas", handmade chocolates, pralines and pastries at "Bittersweet & Edelweiss", clothing and accessories at "Four Seasons Lifestyle" or a new beard cut at "Captain's Barber Shop" (just to name a small selection). Not spending any money should become a challenge. And you don't have to go home hungry either: In the restaurant "K" you get delicious burgers with extraordinary decoration, while "Kyodaina Poke & Sushi" offers - exactly - poke bowls and sushi. In Rob's Kitchen, many guests praise the star cuisine at reasonable prices.

Belsenstrasse, Oberkassel

If one word had to describe Belsenstrasse exactly, it would probably be "homey. Even people who don't live in Oberkassel feel at home here right away, that's how cozy the neighborhood seems. Not too busy, not too secluded - somehow just right. Here, too, you can store as you please, but mainly in owner-operated stores like the toy store "Phantasalto" or the "Dogsmopolitan" for everything to do with dogs. In the morning, the fresh scent of the "Kaffeeschmiede" will wake you up, while in the evening you will get to know Italian cuisine of the highest quality at "Da Noi".

Pine Street, Flingern

In the past, members of the RAF were said to have lived in Kiefernstraße in the hip Flingern district - together with squatters. Today, families, singles and couples who probably can't get enough of their houses live here. Or where else do graffiti decorate buildings in such an appealing way? Here a crossword puzzle can be seen, there monkeys hop from one window to another, while Rapunzel lets down her hair. If she weren't trapped in her tower, she'd surely stop by the AK 47 punk club, a neighborhood institution. Don't forget your camera! Street art fans will want to plan aforementioned parade.

Marc-Chagall-Straße with Maurice-Ravel-Park, Pempelfort

Anyone who enters Marc-Chagall-Strasse in Google may be surprised at the two words that automatically come up in the search: "rent an apartment. On site, however, it quickly becomes clear why: In one of the city's most beautiful residential districts, "Le Flair," the atmosphere is first and foremost relaxed, despite close proximity to the Düsseldorf-Zoo S-Bahn stop (the new buildings were constructed on the former site of the Derendorf freight station). The Maurice Ravel Park, named after the Jewish composer, undoubtedly contributes to the relaxed atmosphere. A memorial commemorating the deportation of more than 6,000 Jews from Düsseldorf is integrated into the park section. The four-hectare green space, which stretches across the entire street, is arranged in a slope shape and, with quite a few benches and seating areas, offers more than enough space for hours of picnics, especially as the youngsters try their hand at the playground equipment. In winter, with a bit of luck, young and old can even go tobogganing - and better just four or five meters than not at all, right?
