Six tips for Asian delicacies

We have put together an epicurean round trip through Asia for you.

This year, the pandemic has thrown a spanner in the works for travel enthusiasts. But you can get to know other cultures and customs here, too, at least when it comes to food. Get exotically spiced and typically prepared dishes from the Far East onto your table at home.

Manima - Laos

Food has a special place in Laos. As soon as the greeting is done, the question "Kin khao bor?" is asked. (Have you eaten yet?). Conversations with friends and family also often revolve around this topic. Lao cuisine is influenced by its neighbors Thailand and Vietnam, contains a lot of vegetables and fish. And there's one thing you can't miss at any meal: sticky rice. Have you worked up an appetite? At Manima - Der Laote you can dive into the exotic world of taste. Pick-up and delivery within a radius of three kilometers are possible.

Cooking Dad - China

As the name suggests, the chef himself is at the stove here. Sheung Chau Lau comes from Hong Kong, is actually a technical draftsman and cooks with passion. Together with his wife and daughter, he runs the inconspicuous restaurant on Birkenstrasse. The traditional recipes he prepares there come from his mother and friends back home. The absolute hit is the extremely crispy Peking duck made to an old family recipe, which he brought to perfection with sauces he developed himself.

Sila Thai - Thailand

The Sila Thai is worth a visit for its interior alone. Very authentic, with many wood carvings and stone carvings specially shipped in from Bangkok. The "Sila", a special fired brick, which was used in ancient Siam for temple buildings and Buddha sculptures, is also used in the restaurant. Unfortunately, you can't experience the ambience at Lockdown, but you can experience the typical local dishes prepared with lots of fresh herbs and a variety of spices. Pick-up and delivery daily between 17:00 and 21:00.

Kirtis Dhaba - India

Kirti Singh Rawat knows his way around complex flavors and hot spices. Together with his family, he runs the restaurant Kirtiʼs Dhaba in Pempelfort, which is appreciated by its guests for its authentic Indian cuisine. Many of the dishes, such as dal or curry, are vegetarian, but meat eaters will also find what they are looking for in the very large selection. You can order the dishes online here.

Gusan - Korea

Fiery hot and with lots of garlic - Korean cuisine has it all. What no meal should be without is kimchi, the spicy marinated, fermented cabbage. It is even served for breakfast. Bibimap, which means "stir-fry rice" in German, is also very popular. This dish, consisting of rice, vegetables, beef or tofu and a fried egg, is served unmixed in a bowl. You can order this take-away treat, which should be stirred with chopsticks and not with a spoon so that the rice doesn't break, at Gusan on Stresemannstraße.

King Fusion

The chefs at King Fusion love unique taste experiences. That's why they combine the best of Thai, Chinese and Japanese cuisine and combine cultural diversity into one culinary entity. And since, in their opinion, it is the fusion of taste and design that makes food an experience, the dishes are arranged in a special way. Delivery within a radius of three kilometers possible, self-collectors receive a 10% discount.
