Goethe-Museum Düsseldorf

Jacobistraße 2, 40211 Düsseldorf

The man, who loved to enthuse about travelling, got his own longed for place in Düsseldorf on the Jacobistrasse: The Schloss Jägerhof (Palace) dates back to 1772 and is perfect for presenting Goethe's life and work.

From letters, portraits, draft sheets and first editions to the hair lock of the poet - the collection includes around 50,000 objects and is the most comprehensive Goethe private collection in the world. Special highlight: In the so-called Faust laboratory visitors follow Goethe's urge for research. His work with anatomy and morphology and the creation of an artificial human being in “Faust II” are at the centre of interest here.
