The pianist and composer Clara Schumann was considered a musical prodigy. She lived in Düsseldorf in the middle of the 19th century. So what could be more fitting than naming a Düsseldorf music school after her?
Since 1956, music loving children and adolescents have been following in the footsteps of the famous namesake at the municipal Clara Schumann Music School. About 7,500 students come to about 170 teachers. The music lessons are held in various districts of Düsseldorf. And if one of the young musicians turns out to be a child prodigy and finds his or her way to be ready for a concert, then all is prepared: The institution has a concert hall with excellent acoustics in the Udo-van-Meeteren-Saal in the Central music school.
