Stores are usually closed on Sundays in Germany, but Düsseldorf’s shops will be open on Sunday, 27 November especially for the Christmas market.

A map is available at the markets. It can also be downloaded here.

Due to construction work, the Engelchen and Sternchen markets have been relocated.
The Engelchen – or little angel – market will be held on Königsallee, where it took place in 2021. This year’s Kö-Lichter market near the DEG winter wonderland will run from Triton fountain to Girardet bridge between the twin shopping streets of Königsallee. The Sternchen – or little star – market will be set up as a Christmas village on Schadowstrasse near the Galeria Kaufhof department store.

Yes, the children’s tent on Schadowstrasse has an entertaining programme for the little ones lined up, including a children’s variety show, puppet show, face painting, Christmas crafts and festive baking. In the centre of the artisan market, the Rhenish puppet theatre will take to the stage on Tuesdays at 3.30pm and 4.30pm and on Sundays at 1pm and 2pm. Elsewhere, children can listen to fairytales in the tower at the fairytale market. And, in a new addition this year, kids can try their hand at making their own chocolate creation at the chocolate factory on Gustaf-Gründgens-Platz. There will be three merry-go-rounds: one at the end of Schadowstrasse, one on Ingenhoven-Tal square in front of Gustaf-Gründgens-Platz and another in the fairytale market. Every Tuesday, selected stalls offer discounts for holders of a Düsseldorf family ticket.

Yes, Rheinbahn will provide a luggage bus where you can safely store your shopping while you enjoy the festive atmosphere. The bus will be stationed near Heinrich-Heine-Platz on the four Saturdays before Christmas Day from noon until 9.15pm.

Parking spaces for coaches can be reserved here.

The DEG winter wonderland on Königsallee has an ice rink offering visitors the chance to enjoy ice-skating and curling.

You can pick up a map at the tourist information office in the city museum (Stadtmuseum) or at the tourist information in the Altstadt (Old Town) Market on Flinger Strasse. It can also be downloaded here. Should you wish to order a larger number of maps, please click here.
