A square kilometre of churches, art and pubs in the heart of Düsseldorf – this is Düsseldorf’s legendary Altstadt (Old Town). The guided tour in sign language provides an entertaining and informative mix of town history, Düsseldorf characters and anecdotes – an exciting search for traces of the city’s origins.

The Düsseldorf Altstadt is home to over 260 restaurants, bars, breweries and more. That’s why the Altstadt is also known as “the longest bar in the world”. Our city tour guides will show you Düsseldorf’s most beautiful streets and buildings.

During the tour you’ll discover many new and exciting things, like the origins of the Jan Wellem Equestrian Statue, and why St. Lambertus Church has a crooked tower.  The city tour guides will also show you where author Heinrich Heine was born, as well as what makes Schneider Wibbel (Wibbel the Tailor) famous.

Guided tours for blind or visually impaired persons

Specially trained guides accompany visually impaired and blind people through Düsseldorf’s old town and explain in a descriptive way the attractions and special features of the metropolis on the Rhine.

Touch the symbols of Düsseldorf’s town history on the monument to the foundation of the town, stroke ‘Schneider Wibbel’ and you will be granted a wish. Smell or taste the famous mustard and the exotic spices at Düsseldorf’s traditional spice shop or try the Alt beer at one of our home breweries (consumption payable separately on site)
