Clothing Store

Schadowstraße 77-79, 40212 Düsseldorf

Not all who cross the threshold of the large fashion store on Schadowstraße know the unusual family history of this company, and their latest objectives.

Founded in 1841 by the brothers Clemens and August Brenninkmeijer in the Dutch town of Sneek, the first shop was opened in 1860. Long before H&M and Zara, C&A was one of the first vertical companies. They designed, produced and sold themselves. Today, C&A is still a family business with big objectives. Producing two-thirds of the collections in the future from sustainable materials such as organic cotton and getting by without using hazardous chemicals is the ambition that drives the descendants of the Brenninkmeijer brothers.
