Institut Français Düsseldorf

Founded in 1950 the Institut Français Düsseldorf is an official french government language and cultural centre. Located at Palais Wittgenstein since 1977, it exists to promote French language and culture, but also to encourage cross-cultural exchange. The program of concerts, talks, conferences, exhibitions and films reflects this purpose. Many great french guests have been invited over the years, among them Jean Cocteau, Marguerite Duras, Jean-Claude Trichet etc.

In addition to traditional language courses for all levels the centre offers courses in business French. In cooperation with the local ministry of education of North Rhine-Westphalia it offers students the possibility to acquire their DELF and DALF language certificates. An on-site library and a mobile library “the bibliobus” that is accessible to 12 towns in North Rhine-Westphalia offer a large variety of media in French.
