Young D-Town

Stairs on the Rhine

You're planning a trip to Düsseldorf? Great choice! The "D-Town" of the 21st century has many things to offer, it's hip and not a bit quiet. Street culture in the Altstadt (Old Town), chic places to go out in the MedienHafen, alternative and creative flair in the North Flingern and Unterbilk districts.

And: Düsseldorf is cheaper than it's reputation leads you to believe! You like exploring? Then we recommend "district hopping" with our guidebook Young in DUS and the Düsseldorf WelcomeCard.

Sleeping

Youth hostel Düsseldorf

Your place or ours? Just stay here! Düsseldorf has the perfect accommodation for all requirements and budgets – from youth hostel with a view of the Rhine to alternative hostels and "couch surfing" to comfortable and even chic hotels. We'll never leave you out in the rain!

Must See

Gehry buildings MediaHarbour

Do you want to discover Düsseldorf on your own or on a guided tour? It works both ways! The tourist information offices can arrange city guides with suggested tours and personal tips. Or just take a look at the routes we've put together and browse through them: go jogging with the sightseeing run, get on your bike or take a horse-drawn carriage. If you like action, we'll also help you arrange balloon trips and tandem parachute jumps.

Nightlife

Düsseldorf at night

Almost weekly top acts and international DJs present class performances in Düsseldorf's clubs on the Königsallee and in the Altstadt. If you prefer a quieter night out, then you should take a stroll along the Ratinger Straße. Just north of the Altstadt, this is the place to meet for a relaxed drink.
"In" parties and retro-clubs in backyard locations turn night into day in the alternative districts of the city! You can always sleep later!

Shopping

Shopping in Düsseldorf

Of course, everybody's heard of the Königsallee. And that Germany's "most exclusive kilometre" has everything that's noble and refined to offer. But chic doesn't always have to be expensive: Düsseldorf is also a first-class place to shop on a budget. For example, in Düsseldorf's fashionable districts, i.e. Flingern, Derendorf and Unterbilk, where trendy clothes shops and the studios of outlandish young designers are to be found. This is where Düsseldorf's new fashion scene has moved. But, of course, Düsseldorf is also home to many famous department stores that offer a broad range of the latest collections by the world's best designers. In short: full shopping bags are guaranteed in Düsseldorf!

Young art scene

KIT - Kunst im Tunnel

A little culture hasn't hurt anybody! And there's loads of it in Düsseldorf: a museum in a disused tunnel under the Rhine promenade (KIT - Kunst im Tunnel), urban galleries in former warehouses in the MedienHafen, alternative galleries in Flingern and Bilk and the campaign "Düsseldorf ist ARTig". The creative scene in Düsseldorf is vibrant and simply trendy.

Sport

  • Fortuna Düsseldorf
  • Home Game of DEG

"95 olé" or "Heja heja DEG": a trip to a Fortuna Düsseldorf or the DEG-Metro Stars home game is a must for any sports fan. The super modern Esprit Arena in the north of Düsseldorf is where – spurned on by 30,000 fans – Fortuna Düsseldorf is battling it out to return to the Bundesliga, and, in the ISS Dome in Rath, the DEG competes for the German Ice Hockey championship every year.

At the "Power Horse World Team Cup" the best tennis nations of the world fight for the cup, while the METRO Group Marathon and the T³ Triathlon demand everything from their athletes.
Like doing sports yourself? There's lots of ways to do so in Düsseldorf!
