The Corporate Communications Department at Düsseldorf Marketing & Tourismus GmbH (DMT) sees its main task in advertising Düsseldorf's tourist attractions. To this end, DMT maintains close contacts with national and international media. It regularly sends out press releases to national and international travel journalists providing information about current events and topics. Press conferences focusing on specific subjects are also organised to supplement the press releases. The aim of this press and public-relations work is to help Düsseldorf stand out through corresponding image building in Germany and other countries, by publishing DMT's and its partners' offers and by releasing information about current events. Beyond that, the Corporate Communications Department is responsible for event-specific PR, e.g. the Japan Day Düsseldorf/NRW and the Christmas Market. These measures are aimed at creating demand for the services provided for tourists by the state capital of Düsseldorf.
