The METRO Group Marathon Düsseldorf on 29 April 2012 is a always true sightseeing run: be it the Tonhalle concert hall, government palace or the trade-fair centre – the 42.195 km stretch is not only one of the fastest in Germany but also one of the most attractive. Thus runners may take in the world-famous Königsallee, pass the modern MediaHarbour with buildings by such internationally renowned star architects as Frank O. Gehry and ready themselves for the final sprint along the Rhine promenade that presents a view of the Schlossturm and Rheinturm. And because the finish leads directly to the Old Town, the runners can celebrate their success with a cool "Alt" beer. After-Run Party stage programme for the 10th METRO GROUP Marathon Düsseldorf 2012:

Runners and their fans can celebrate the Marathon After-Run Party in the heart of Düsseldorf’s Altstadt. Musical entertainment will be provided by THE CLOU EXPERIENCE – a band with charm, wit and spirit – for the sixth year running. The group stages unique shows and will present matching “DJ collages”. Apart from that, the M’Jays – who have already been named European and German videoclip dance champions – will also be there. They’ll be performing various hip hop dance styles. The Clou Experience and the M’Jays guarantee a mega Marathon Party. Be there too!

Music along the marathon route

Runners will be given repeated encouragement along the 42.195 kilometre route by numerous samba troupes, tambour corps and bands. The bands Ganza ab Surdo, Sambazillus and Batucada Rio Reno will be celebrating this anniversary with us and will also be there for the 10th time.

General information

The entire marathon route will be closed to cars from 8.00 a.m. The Rheinufer Tunnel will be closed from 5.30 a.m. The areas around the baton change (Kaiserstrasse, Oberkasseler Festwiese and Jacobistrasse) will be closed at 6.00 a.m. After the marathon, the individual streets will be gradually reopened to traffic. You can find details of the approximate time at which runners will pass through the individual sections of the route/districts from the list of door-to-door times. Rheinbahn services will also be restricted.
