Theater Kontra-Punkt (TKP) was founded in 1984 and is a music theatre for adults, young people and children. It focuses on language and music in unusual surroundings and searches for new opportunities above and beyond traditional theatre and opera.

Productions emerge in co-operation with musicians, singers, actors and dancers with a strong emphasis on debut performances. Everything serves as inspiration, e.g. the room of performance: The space as an intrument.

The theatret works with international orchestras in the development of new programmes, which give kids a playful and intelligent approach to orchestral music. A particular aim is to make contemporary music more approachable by bringing together professionals and amateurs.
