The Heinrich-Heine-Institute is a centre of international Heine-research, literature and culture, offering an archive, a library and a museum. Its events address a culturally and literarily interested public.

The museum is the only one for Heinrich Heine, who was born in Düsseldorf in 1797, and his time worldwide. It presents manuscripts, first editions and letters, contemporary portraits, a death mask, a special library, a literature museum with constant exhibitions as well as changing exhibitions on Heine.
